Community Interface with Government
The world over, there is growing recognition of the need for closer relations between citizens and their governments in setting and implementing public policy. However, under the modern system of representative democracy, very often, citizen’s needs are not fully reflected in policy since their participation is basically limited to their elected representatives. This gap may lead to a situation whereby the public has little faith in institutions of government and, conversely, those who serve in government have little faith in those being served. Recognizing the urgent need to strengthen our democratic institutions by encouraging meaningful citizen participation in issues of governance, OrgPEOPLE has been working with interested and committed government officials to develop effective platforms for citizen-engagement with government agencies. OrgPEOPLE is proud to state that our activities and projects have actually resulted in improvements in community interactions in several areas. Details will be found in this section.
